Australia has been dominating the international student recruitment market with the USA, UK, and Canada for a long time, due to COVID-19, somehow it had loosened the momentum as it had to close the border very early to protect the economy and locals but after COVID-19 it is now being more robust to host the international students in a positive manner even more and more international students are willing to pursue higher education in Australia, as it is a nation where nine universities out of 41, are able to find the spot under top 100 universities across the globe. To make the ties robust with India, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently announced a scholarship to attract Indian students by the name Maitri scholarship which would allow Indian students to study in Australia for up to four years. This scholarship will not only cover the tuition fees of the students but also provide a stipend to cover living costs in Australia. The primary focus of the given scholarship is to give financial support to post-graduate students who have enrolled in STEM-related programs and it is available through a direct grant process with the Australian Universities.

Eligibility - Under this scholarship, the university would do the nomination of prospective students to benefit by the scholarship. There are certain criteria to get enrolled for this scholarship. 

a) This scholarship is only for Indian students who would like to pursue a UG or PG degree in Australian institutions 
b) The student is not a permanent resident of Australia. 
c) Hold a valid student visa (Subclass 500)

  • High Achievers Award by the University of Queensland 

The University of Queensland is also offering high achievers award or scholarship to reduce the financial burden on prospective students and provide support with tuition deposits from some countries such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia,   Sri Lanka, and Latin America countries. High Achievers award is a tuition fee reduction of 20% per year for the span of the enrolled program. 

Eligibility - To get eligible under this program, There are certain factors to be fulfilled such as 

a) Students should be from the participating countries 
b) The student is enrolled for the full-time program
c) have not received any other scholarship
d) Have enrolled in a full-time program at the University of Queensland

  • Deakin University Scholarship 

This renowned university which is known for its academic excellence also offers a scholarship to Indian students by the name Deakin International Scholarship, the scholarship is based on academic excellence and would like to invite students around the world who have the potential to make a leading contribution to the university. It covers 25% of the tuition fee. 

Eligibility 

a) International students is eligible to study at Deakin University 
b) have scored above 65%  in the academic previously
c) Provide proper justification about the right candidate to avail of this scholarship.

  • Welcome Back International Scholarship at Murdoch University 

COVID-19 has negatively impacted Australian universities and the local government also shut the border at an early stage but after witnessing a low case of COVID-19, Australia re-opened its border for international students and to attract international students and provide proper financial assistance to prospective students Murdoch University started offering Welcome Back International scholarship, which can reduce the financial burden by 1/5 or 20% of the tuition fee. This scholarship applies to all nationalities including Indian students.

Eligibility

a) Enrolled for a full-time program at Murdoch University 
b) Not a citizen of Australia and New Zealand 
c) Have not received any other scholarship from any institute or government in Australia. 
d) Meeting the admission requirements of the program at Murdoch University 

Murdoch University scholarship information link  

  • The Early Acceptance Scholarship 

The early acceptance scholarship is offered by the public research university, Macquarie University. This applies to the Indian students who are planning to start their term by 2024 and 2025. it is not confined to any particular stream and applies to all the programs at Macquarie University. it offers 25% off the deduction in tuition fees every year. The value of the scholarship would be AUD 10,000 per year and would last till the end of the semester. 

Eligibility 

a) The student should be a citizen of India 
b) Accept the offer letter and pay the commencement fee by the acceptance deadline 
c) Must be meeting the requirements of the program applied for.

  • Research Training Program International (RTPi) Scholarship 

Research Training Program International scholarship is purely disbursed by the Australian government and offered to international students on the parameters of academic merit and research potential. It covers costs for up to four years for the doctoral program and for the master research program for 2 years. it also allows a stipend of 32,500 per year (As updated 2023)
